I am a Triathlon Australia accredited coach, Pro Triathlete, and Physiotherapist. I have also completed formal training in conducting running assessments and bike fits.
I started working as a Physiotherapist in the UK in 2005. In 2008 I moved to Cairns, Australia, where I competed in my first 70.3 in 2014, and then my first full Ironman in 2017. That year I also qualified for the Ironman World Championship in Kona for the first time. I began coaching in 2018, and began racing professionally in 2021.
Until 2019 I was a hugely successful self-coached age group triathlete (see results below), and then began being coached by arguably the best triathlon coach in history, Brett Sutton. In the 2.5 years I was coached by Brett, I learned a lot from him, and his many years of experience working with (and helping to create) some of the very best athletes the sport has ever seen.
I benefitted from spending time training with Brett's squad of professional athletes in St Moritz, Switzerland, and on the Sunshine Coast, Australia. I also spent time training in Brisbane with Cam Watt, when he had the best triathlon squad in Australia.
I believe my strength as a coach comes from my personal experiences of training and racing, coupled with my background of many years working with physio patients and studying the human body and human movement. This puts me in an excellent position of understanding, as best as possible, the intricacies of human performance and injury. This has led to a special interest in how the brain, neuroimmune system and neuromuscular system all work together, and how we can manipulate this to improve performance and prevent injury.
